A layout....a haircut....and a water fight!

**WARNING** this is a heavy photo post ok..........
.......... still here? Right ok, then I shall start with a layout. This is one I made a few weeks ago and is using papers from the American Crafts 'Classics' Range. I just fell in love with the colours, especially the tealy/turq one......

I cut the flowers using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die, curled the edges of the petals and then popped an 8mm Teal half pearl into the centre.

I paper pricked the swirly pattern onto the paper and then covered each prickhole with some lush Teal Liquid Pearls which I bought from the wide range of colours at Cardinal Colours

These papers were really lovely to work with, some of them have a pearlescant finish to them and all of them are double sided.

Now onto the haircut!
Chloe has been growing her hair for what seems like an absolute age and it had grown to a fairly long length....as you can see here!

On tuesday we went to my cousins house for a hair cut.........
and this is what she came out with!!!!!! Gorgeous eh :)

Although I am not sure how much I like her looking older than her years LOL.xxx

Yesterday she had her best friend round for the day and they were up to various things....as the day went on it got hotter and hotter.....

so what better way to end it than with a water fight!!!

The water guns came out and battle commenced!

And then it was a case of filling a jug and emptying it! ( warm water of course!!)

Then back to the guns again....before they ended up actually throwing buckets of water at each other LOL....a good time was had by all.

We also had some great fun with bubbles and a hand made bubble maker....will share that at a later date.
Off to cut hubby's hair now and then to the hospital to visit my Dad before we hit the beach for the evening and enjoy fish and chips.....
Wishing you a lovely evening too ( and wondering why it is that weekends pass so darned quick and yet weekdays at work do not!!!!!)

Warmest wishes Anita..xxxx

A little sneak and a fishy friend.

What a lovely first week of the school summer holidays we have had so far! We hit the beach again at Pevensey yesterday and the girls had a great laugh....but more of that in a moment.
Firstly here is a little sneaky peek of my DT layout for the new challenge that will be launched over on Scrapology, starting on Monday 1st August....it's a really lovely layout that we have lifted again this month and we hope you like it and want to play along with us.

So, yesterday we hit the beach again for a few hours and the girls went body boarding and swimming again. At one point I thought I was going to laugh until I cried.....the girls were in the water and all of a sudden the water appeared to be 'boiling' in a rather large area. It was infact huge schoals of mackeral swimming along chasing whitebait, all you could see was lots and lots of little shiny heads, teeth and flapping about ( perfectly harmless of course lol) but the girls didn't know that ;) and it looked liked something out of a Benny Hill show to see them come flying through the water in a mad panic to get out. Oh my god how they laughed though....soooo funny bless em.

Lauren had a VERY close encounter with a mackeral!

And once he was gutted and beheaded ready for a barbeque she thought he made a great posing prop LOL.( odd child!!!)
I can see several more trips to the beach coming up over the holidays, weather permitting. But for today I have lots of housework and other catching up to do. Hope you all have a super weekend, whatever you are up too!
Warmest Wishes

On the 1st day............

of the school hols we went.....to Pevensey Bay and spent a few hours on the beach!
I am not on holiday yet( unfortunately), but after coming home this morning and seeing what a glorious day it was going to be, I asked Chloe is she fancied a trip to the beach..... she jumped at the chance. So after we collected Lauren from last nights party, we packed a bag of towels, blankets and a picnic and headed to Pevensey Bay :)

On route we stopped at Asda and she chose a body board that she has had her eye on.

When we got there the tide was out, but it was only a short tide, so sadly there wasn't much sand to be seen....however in about a weeks time it should be a different story( looooooong tides :) )....and we plan to pay as many visits to the beach as we can :D

After struggling to get into her wetsuit for the first time ( which I have to say was highly amusing to watch AND listen to) she picked up her board and was raring to go :)

She really had hoped for waves....and not a millpond! But she didn't let that deter her and had great fun with it all.
Meanwhile......back on the beach.....this young lady was catching some kip after partying hard til 3.30 this morning!!!!! Jeez, if I had known she was up at the time I would have popped round for a cuppa before work!! ;)
I will leave you with a couple more pics of my Little Mermaid....(or Water Slug LOL) having fun, on what is hopefully the 1st of many trips to the beach this summer. I hope you all have a super summer too and have chance for lots of laughs and good fun.

And me....well I am off to bathe in a bath full of aftersun :( After covering myself in Factor 30 Ambre Solaire I am still resembling a Lobster....and it smarts rather!

Blonde and Beautiful.........

Lauren is off to one of her friends birthday parties tonight and needed a card made. I recently bought a bag of stamped images at a community market stall and she had a look to see what she liked and chose this one! I found out when I was colouring her that all the ink bled :(, so have had had to go over some bits again with a fine black liner, on having a close look at the other images left in the bag I am now wondering if they have infact been printed off instead of stamped :(...oh well never mind eh.

I used some papers from a K & Co 'Hopscotch' pad and coloured with my Promarkers. I then used Stickles on various parts, added a few blossoms and a Craftwork Cards sentiment ( which I had gently coloured with Promarkers...along with the bling, which was originally clear :)

I had planned on colouring her hair in auburn tones, but Lauren wanted blonde as it looks more like her friend lol. Hope she likes it! I won't find out until tomorrow as Lauren and some of the others are sleeping over.
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend :)
Warmest wishes

Scrapology Card Challenge for July - Anything but Square!

This month over at Scrapology we have had a super challenge set by the lovely S-J, owner and designer of Little Musings
The challenge set is 'Anything but Square' and all of the DT have used some of S-J's super digital stamps and created some lovely examples....why not pop over to the Scrapology blog and check it out and whilst you are there have a play along with us.
Here is my DT card, I used 2 images from the 'Wing'ed Things' set, printed them out, coloured and glittered them and then layered them up and finished with some little pearl embellies. I made the card into an easel card with the base refelcting the shape of the fairy :)
Just gotta love them Stickles eh :)

S-J has very kindly donated any 3 sets of her digital stamps for the prize winner( thanks S-J).....so what are you waiting for? Get creating :)

Blooming Lovely!

Tonight has seen the Year 6 Leaver disco for our youngest, Chloe. She has had this dress for a while now and not had the opportunity to wear it....so tonight was perfect!
She looked so pretty, bless her....and SO grown up. I cannot believe that she is about to leave junior school, where has the time gone and what has happened to my cheeky little girly who walked through the school gates in her teeny uniform just a few years ago :(

It was a bit of a rush to get ready tonight, she has had swimming this morning and then StreetDance club after school and we ended up with 45 mins to get home, get sorted and back to the disco.....quick heated session with the curling tongs and LOTS of hairspray to hold her chlorine water laden locks lol. I think sahe looks lovely, don't you? Next week on friday is her last day at Primary before spending a week at her new senior school before the hols start and on friday there will be a leavers assembly and performance....believe me when i say I am already well stocked on tissues....and my eyes are welling up at the thought of it.

Lauren has spent this week doing Work Experience. She has been based in a lovely local florists called Pat's Flowers in Amberstone, nr Hailsham. She has had a wonderful week working with Pat and Tereasa, who welcomed her and have really made her week a pleasure.

Lauren has been really hands on all week and finally came home today with this stunning floral display that she has been lucky enough to be able to make ( all on her own!!!) today. I am sooooo proud of her and what she has acheived....she chose what blooms she wanted to use and knew just how much I LOVED Pat's stunning vintage roses and was lucky enough to be able to pop some in amongst the others
Just look at these blooms, they are just beautiful.Lauren, well done Hun, you are a star!

Scrapology July Challenge - M is for Masks.

This month over at Scrapology we are using masks on our pages and have chosen to lift a lovely layout by a lady called Liz Qualman

Here is my DT page for July, the photo is of my 2 girlies having fun on the beach at our summer holiday a couple of years ago :). I have used a mix of papers, Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations and WeRMemory Keepers and also some WRMK Gletter brads and chippie embellishments.

I created my own masks by punching out strips using a Martha Stewart deep edge trellis punch and this created the outer frame. I then cut out a large circle and used a Martha Stewart corner punch to create the pattern round the edge, I then gutted the centre. After placing the masks in my chosen place I used 2 different Cosmic Shimmer Mists and sprayed the page, then when dry I removed the masks. It was really nice actually making it from scratch and just goes to prove you do not always have to pay out for manufactured and often expensive items.

I added some chipboard embellies, raffia mesh and the brads, which echoed the colours in the papers.
I also cut out circles from one of the papers, then scrunched them up before adding to the page with a brad.
Here is Liz's original layout that inspired us.

And here is her original sketch. We would love to see you join in with us on this challenge, it really was great fun to create. Why not pop over to Scrapology and see what the other members of the DT have created.
